How much do reeds cost?

I charge $20 per oboe reed and $30 per English horn reed. I currently only sell reeds to my private students. During certain times of the year I may not have oboe reeds in stock to purchase. I recommend that most of my students, especially beginners, supplement their oboe reeds from other suppliers. My current favorite supplier for my students is Double Or Nothing Reeds, but you may need to try a few suppliers before you find the right fit for you.

Why buy handcrafted reeds?

This is a common question for new students and their parents. When buying from a store, you are receiving a mass-produced, manufactured product. This doesn’t work well! Every piece of cane is different, and it takes a professional to sort through the good, the bad, and the hopeless.

When purchasing from a professional oboist, you are purchasing something that has been custom made for you from the very beginning. While selling reeds to my students, I try to pick out a few I think they’ll like, but I will adjust them for your specific needs if you aren’t completely happy.
