Biography
Christina Gavin is an oboist, English hornist, and educator in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally from Melbourne, Florida, she earned a Bachelor of Music Performance from Florida State University under Dr. Eric Ohlsson. She continued her education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and received an Artist’s Diploma in Music Performance while studying under Russ deLuna and Eugene Izotov.
Christina is on faculty at Kennesaw State University and Reinhardt University, and formerly served as the Artist Affiliate at Oglethorpe University. She has led a private studio composed of students from across the country since 2013, and is a sought-after clinician for middle and high schools in the Atlanta area.
In addition to her career in education, Christina is an active performer across the Southeast US. She is the principal oboe for the Atlanta Opera and previously served in the organization for five years as the second oboe and English horn. She also serves as second oboe and English horn for the Atlanta Ballet and frequently performs with numerous other orchestras in the Southeast US including the Atlanta Symphony, Atlanta Pops Orchestra, and the Orlando Philharmonic. Christina has performed with several other prestigious orchestras, most notably working regularly as substitute musician for the San Francisco Symphony during her time living on the west coast.
